What are the benefits of liquid extracts?
Herbs administered in an alcohol extract increase
our absorption and assimilation abilities. The
alcohol acts as an important solvent for the
active plant constituents, while functioning as an
ideal preservative to maintain the potency of the
formula and to ensure the shelf life of the product

What are the best times to take herbal extracts?
The most effective time to take an herbal extract
depends on the target of the extract. For example:
• Tonic extracts are best taken with food
• Digestive aides are best taken just before eating
• Herbs for the urinary system or for cleansing are
   best taken away from meals
• Herbs for acute onset of colds, flus, etc are
   best taken very frequently
How is dosage determined?
The recommended adult dosage is based on a
150 lb person. We suggest using Clark’s Rule: take
the person’s weight, divide by 150, and multiply
the fractional result by the adult dose to find the
equivalent dosage.

When is an alcohol-based tincture not an appropriate choice?
An alcohol base may not be appropriate for infants
and small children under the age of 2, as well as
for individuals who have an alcohol problem or a
liver affliction. Glycerine tinctures, solid extracts, or
liquid capsules may be a better choice for those
who fall into these categories.
